Church of Scotland, Rosefield Place, Portobello, Edinburgh, EH15

St James' in Portobello is a congregation of the Church of Scotland. We aim to be at the heart of life within our parish boundaries and a wide variety of church and community organisations use our premises each week. The Church is located in Rosefield Place, just off Brighton Place and the buildings are set out in beautiful gardens.

Our Sunday Service is at 11am and lasts around an hour. The service it is a mixture of readings, music and reflection. Anyone is welcome to come along for the service and if you are thinking about coming but wish to know a little more, we have some commonly asked questions with answers here - ‘Come as you are’ which we hope you find helpful.

On Sunday 13th April the morning service that takes place at St James’ is a joint service and we welcome the congregations of St Philips and Old Parish.

We celebrate Holy Week (14th – 18th April) with short services at 7pm each evening. On Good Friday (18th April), the St James’ sanctuary is open all day for people to visit, relax and find some quiet time. There are short services each hour, with the main Services at 11am and 7pm.

On Easter Sunday (20th April) we celebrate with a service in the Church garden at 9.30am followed by breakfast in the hall. Our Easter Day Family Service is at 11am

Our next Messy Church is at 10.30am on Sunday 4th May in the main hall from 10.30am – Noon when we have a ‘Messy Earth’
